If the maximum power point voltage (Vmp) of the solar array is greater than the battery voltage, the battery charging current must be proportionally greater than the solar array outpuf current so that the input and output power can be balanced. The greater the differe between the Vmp voltage and the battery voltage, the greater the current boost. Current enhancement is extremely important in the system because the maximum power point voltage (Vmp) voltage of the solar panels in a solar power system is usually higher than the battery voltage.
